How Prompt Improver Works
Every prompt you submit is evaluated across five dimensions, each scored from 1 to 5. Here's what we look for and how to improve.
The 5 Scoring Dimensions
Clarity
Is your request easy to understand? A clear prompt uses straightforward language, avoids ambiguity, and states exactly what you want.
Weak prompt
“Help me with marketing”
Strong prompt
“Write 3 email subject lines for a product launch targeting small business owners”
Specificity
Are the details precise enough? Specific prompts include constraints like length, format, audience, tone, and scope so the AI doesn't have to guess.
Weak prompt
“Write something about dogs”
Strong prompt
“Write a 200-word blog intro about the health benefits of daily walks for senior dogs, in a warm conversational tone”
Context
Is there enough background information? Context helps the AI understand your situation: who the audience is, what you've already tried, or what constraints exist.
Weak prompt
“Make my resume better”
Strong prompt
“I'm a software engineer with 5 years of experience applying for a senior role at a startup. Review my resume summary for impact and clarity”
Structure
Is the prompt well-organized? Structured prompts break complex requests into clear steps, use formatting like bullet points, and separate distinct requirements.
Weak prompt
“I need a meal plan that's healthy and cheap and for two people and includes a grocery list”
Strong prompt
“Create a 5-day meal plan for 2 adults. Requirements: (1) budget under $75/week, (2) each meal under 30 min prep, (3) include a consolidated grocery list”
Examples
Are examples provided to guide the output? Including a sample of what you want (or don't want) dramatically improves the quality and consistency of results.
Weak prompt
“Write me a tagline”
Strong prompt
“Write a tagline for a fitness app. Style: short and punchy, like "Just Do It" or "Think Different." Avoid generic phrases like "Your journey starts here"”
